Whilst in Innellan we received a promotional
email regarding day trips to France, Dover Calais by P&O ferries. Car and
up to six passengers for £23, plus they give you six bottles of wine. Couldn’t get
six people into the car so just the three of us went. Weather was a bit inclement
with seas crashing over the bows, but Gwen thoroughly enjoyed the journey. By
the time we reached France the sun was out and it was time for lunch. Had taken
precaution of booking a table in Le restaurant Aquare'aile, situated in a block
of flats overlooking the sea and beaches along the coast.
Very unusual location, but the views are to die for and the food is excellent although as expensive as la Gavroche in London.
great view of the gardens of the homes along the beach |
The restaurant was fairly
busy but not full, yet all the sea view windows were taken, so we were pleased
to have prebooked.
Quality
of food and service was excellent and the glasses of house wine (driving so
could not benefit a bottle) matched the superior quality of food.

Judith happy to not have to worry about the washing up |
As per usual, close to the sea, must have scallops |
Gwen chose the smoked salmon. Great to see thick slices of the home cured and smoked wild salmon |
Judith went for her favourite foie gras |
The bread, little amuse bouche and starters were excellent.
didnt take Gwen long to demolish her sole |
the fresh thick juicy cod was cooked to perfection, topped with a parsley herbcrust and a delicate selection of roast vegetables |
Judith loved the duck with its rich sauce |
Over forty cheeses to
choose from and the puds, even Judith and l partook in the debauchery.
The puddings were so good that Judith's and Gwen s had disappeared before l had time to photograph them. |

Mine was an intense lemon tart with sherbet sticks and a pine nut base. Delicious.
