Walking in Pitlochry
These are the photos from the iphone, will upload the others
once l get back to Innellan.
Four nights away walking in the crisp mountains
around Pitlochry. Drove round Loch Lomand then cut up to Loch Tay and Aberfeldy
before heading North East to Pitlochry. Managed to take a small diversion at
Loch Tay and head up ito the mountains and then down the valley along side the
River Lyon. A magnificent valley with gorgeous scenery, snow capped mountains,
fantastic salmon and trout rivers, small communities nestled in the crags and
forests. We followed this all the way down to Fortingall where there is a
superb hotel that serves exquisite food. We first found it many years ago when
it was very tired, heated by electric heaters. Then we rediscovered it once it
had been totally refurbished. Its now a comfortable country house hotel that
caters for the Fishermen and deer stalkers visiting GlenLyon.
Sun shining, minus
degrees temperature, but its brilliant.Seem to draining down the water to enable work to be carried out on the dam
managed to visit the festival theatre to see Miracle on 34th Street, a musical. Not bad, managed to put us into the Christmas spirit.
A truly amazing theatre that seems to alwas play to full audiences. Situated by the side of the river, its great to be able to walk to and from the performance, although it was rather slippery and dark when we walked back to the hotel.
Then again it was dark at 3.40pm. Nt a lot of light about at this time of year.
On the third day we climbed the hill and ended up in the clouds. No sun, just blxxdy cold and damp
Judith yodelling to attract attention, from what l do not know. |
The viewpoint, without a view. Just clouds and more clouds |
Not a good look Philip. But l was dry and warm. It isnt a fashion show |
On the way back to innellan, popped into the distillery at Crief. Then realised there was no point. The new drink drive law had just come in, so even a tasting would have taken me over the top. So we had a gorgeous bowl of hot freshly cooked soup and rolls.
Great scenery on the drive back. All the major mountaintops were covered in a lovely white sprinkling of snow. And the sun was out.
