Home in Innellan, but this time in the holiday rental owned
by Eric. Stopped off in Carlisle to break the journey and enjoyed our
discounted rib steak at the Flaming Grill in the Premier Inn, our favourite
budget hotel.

As it was Saturday we popped into the supermarket and stocked up for the week. Whilst Judith was storing everything away and warming the house up, l drove to the build. It had fared quite well, although a couple of rain covers had been blown back leaving the timber open to the elements.
Start working on the Sunday with Jordon giving help and support, and plenty of muscle.
Initially fit the 50mm solid Insulation PIR and then screw top and bottom timbers and the 45 x 45 verticals, which act as the service duct behind the plasterboard. Saying that, we had to top most of the North South walls with 10mm OSB board, naied every 50mm, which is specified to stop Racking in the wind.
We then moved onto fitting all the noggins ( Dwangs in Scotland) in the ceiling, after which we soon started raising the plasterboard with the assistance of a rather dilapidated lifter.
Nevertheless, the use of the hired board lifter helped us to get it up reasonably quick.
The temperature soon drops and we have a smattering of snow |
Larch glistening, but the scaffold boards are deadly, coated with ice |
No instructions, but two large sections were already put together, so it wasn't that difficult. Or so we thought.
Being a continuous winder it was quite difficult to fit certain treads and risers once we fitted the central pillars and wall strings in place.
Especially when you find some of the pre cut mortise are missing.
Early morning snow |
So all in all we had a good week, very productive. Feel very pleased with ourselves.
On Sunday l am back up to the house by myself, fitting noggins in the steel and lining the plasterboard on the ceiling to enable me to dry screw the hidden cross noggins.
Good mornings work and return for lunch after which l go back up to complete the chalk lining.
Then l have one of my failed circus routines. During the chalk lining over the top of the ceiling void, l turn and place my foot on the concrete perimeter. But l slip and go flying through the air, bouncing on the concrete on the way down.
The result is painful and debilitating. Eight days later and l am still on heavy painkillers to numb the pain.
Still continue up at the house, but rather slower than normal.
Its so cold we decide to test out the wood burner.
Needed a pint after a long days work. |
