November on site, Building again after a few days off
Weather
has started getting colder and snow seems to arrive out the blue. Perhaps the
ground will harden and allow us to get on with the groundwork. That is, if we
can ever nail down Billy to come up with his digger.
Frame
up behind the shower walls to allow access for connections. Will eventually
make up a shelf unit that can slot in and out for any adjustments or repairs in
the future.
Eventually get round to fitting insulation wool into the void above the cathedral ceiling. What a job. Had to lay boards down and crawl commando style to get to the end, whilst Jordan past the insulation through to me. You really have to have you head in the right place. A bit like potholing.
But now its done.
Clear and clean the loft space up and start fitting the junction box's for the lighting circuits ready for the electrician.
7th Nov- The boiler engineer turned up and started fixing the radiators and boiler in place. Had to keep putting him off due to the delay in getting the gas fitted. But he was happy enough. Did a great job.
Start tiling the
shower walls fitting the controls and head, the latter being a pig. The plumber
showed me a good trick to ensure that the shower arm stayed rigid. Its always
been a problem in the past. But he suggested using a garden tap connector,
which enabled you to get a great tight fitting onto the timber. The down side
is that if you use square sections, it has to line up exactly. Took a lot of
time, washers and tape to get it just right.
When l saw him later, he said he would have cut the arms thread to make it fit.
As all the piping was
now in place and underground we were able to finish off the gabions. More
baskets, more stones. But the effect was excellent.
Virgil
our faithful plaster gets back in to finish the bathrooms and l start piping up
and getting ready to fit the wall tiles and shower bases.
