more progress on the home. lots finished off

Fit the joists in the bathroom and then infill with 200mm of insulation before fitting two layers of floor sheeting ready for tiling.

Virgil turns up and commences plastering all but the bathroom. Walls and ceilings in the bedroom, wardrobe/dressing room, hallway and utility room.

He makes a great job of it, and it only takes him 3 days. And he is very reasonable, charges me £5 sq metre, and l provide the materials. He seals everything with PVA, then skims and puts on edging steel, after which he gives everywhere two coats.

Whilst this was going on, l finished off around the inner door of the vestibule. Then l built a storage bench and Judith upholstered the seat. Then we fitted the skirting and put up shelves and coat hangers. Judith then dressed the area, tidying up what was quickly becoming a storage glory hole.

During the odd hours that it wasn't raining, l completed boxing in the underside of the steel framing. Took the opportunity to amend all the lighting and external power sockets

Brought an outside light back from France and fitted it outside with an automatic sensor light bulb. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work, due to the brightness of the street lamp outside. If you come home in the dark you just put your hand on the bulb and it then shoots into life.

We also fitted a new ceiling light in the porch. This one comes on when the vestibule goes on.

Also completed the timber framing around both the doors and the windows in larch.

Judith planted up outside once l finished the stone wall along the side of the parking area.

The next project was around the staircase, building in shelves for books, whilst leaving the concrete on show. Perhaps a reminder of the time a went over it whilst fitting the ceiling boards.

Judith has taken over the painting of the walls and ceiling. She seems to enjoy it, which is fortuitous, as l find it so boring.

I have not been sat on my but whilst Judith paints. I have been busy making units, kitchen doors and draws and fitting them. Its time consuming, but rewarding.

Have to wait for more wood to be delivered to complete the kitchen doors, so l most probably get on with making kick plates and getting Judith to paint and wax them.
