busy in the wilderness

Taking a breather after digging out weeds with our good friend mattock

we have lots of these in the wilderness. Anyone have an idea what they are. Quite attractive ground covering weed.

Once we had removed the fence and pulled out all the undergrowth we found

Cut back the laurel and now having the fun of burning it, although the logs will be cut up for the fire pit

Uncovered some great earth along with concrete pads and paths! Now starting to fit a new fence between our neighbours

Getting there

fence virtually finished, just have to level the top. Not bad for a days work
when we arrived at Innellan last month we entered the garden, building site, wilderness with the weeds and small amount of grass coming up to our chests. So after taking a rest for the weekend on the Isle of Bute we set to work ordering equipment to replace that which l had  sold in France. Chainsaw, Strimmer, oils etc. to get to grips with the bohemian savannah of Argyll.

Put down our thoughts on paper for the new layout and took it to the planning department to ensure that it was in the permitted building scheme.

What do they say about best laid plans? Unfortunately, you are not allowed to build in front of your building line ( front of your house) unless you obtain planning permission. The cost for applying £595.
So we have now adjusted the plans and moved the summerhouse /shed back. In fact its a better position.

Now this was the view back in January 2014, not too bad. By the way the fence bit that belonged to next door is now purchased and is ours. Brilliant.

The growth of weed at the end of June when we return to take up permanent habitation
Friendly pheasant sitting on the fence...too old to eat

the bank has just been strimmed to enable us to see what's below the four foot of growth

Removing the top layer of weed and levelling the earth.

The fence has been removed and the rubbish is gradually being incinerated
