plenty of sun for the opening of the Games - now l am contending with liquid sunshine and midges
The games have been amazing. And sunshine in Scotland. Plenty of it.
Manage to start and finish a slate bench in the garden with the odd midge to contend with. Fortunately, when its hot, they stay away. But as soon as its damp, they try and get you.
Find that if l put my cream on they still bite, but l dont feel it. Just have loads of little red blotches all over my legs.
Once the seat had been completed l started digging the fire pit. The weather changed and we now have a fish pond.
As soon as l try and get my shed built the weather turns. Four seasons in a day is nothing compared to our micro climate up in Innellan. It seems to change every couple of minutes. Get all my tools out side, start and five minutes latter l am rushing back in doors.
The moving of tools in and out continues for three days. Then the sun comes out, it dries up, and the midges head back to wherever they come from. Mars, the Clyde, the Loch or perhaps the swamp, or should l say fire pit at the bottom of the garden.
Only one slight problem. Have run out of materials and the truck has broken down on the mainland.
But its coming tomorrow.
And it does, first thing. But so does the rain.
Get sick and tired of the relentless moving of equipment from the wet back inside and out again when the sun appears.
Hopefully it will be dry on Monday. The forecast is good. So l only have to quickly build the walls, roof and clad it with roofing, fit the class, doors and make sure its completed before the forecasted storms on Wedneday.
Better get the digit out and stop looking at all the ships passing.
Which leads me onto a nice photo. Part of the new aircraft carrier was shipped out on the back of a barge the other day. Weird.
Then today an American submarine went by. A very small thing. That is compared to our big nuclear subs that seem to overshadow everything.
This morning we had a little visitor nestled down at the bottom of the garden. Gorgeous little deer. The other week we had a mother and two babies.
Fine for the momement, but will change my mind when they start decimating my plants, trees and veg.
