Early 2016 - Innellan - and its rain, sun, sleet, lightening, snow and more sun

and thats just one day.

We have spent most of the early part of 2016 in Dover, with Gwen in and out of Hospital with her Cellulitis

Cellulitis causes the area of affected skin to become red, hot, swollen, and tender AND very painful.

It didn’t help that the chemist gave her the wrong prescription. They gave her a childs dosage.

The A&E pumped her up with 1gram of antibiotics throughout her stay. It then took a further three weeks of antibiotics to get it clear. Then another three weeks for her head to get normal after all the drugs.
Pleased to say she is nearly back to normal. Enjoying the trips out for lunch and afternoon teas.

Keep heading south and then back up to Innellan.

We were supposed to be starting the house build on the 1st March, but the grass is still growing, and there is no sign of the groundwork team. But its not their fault. Still waiting for the structural engineer to get his act together and draw up the final details for the building control.

Given us time to source materials, change plans, and have a heart attack a few times with the costs spiraling out of control.

Judith is economizing in the house whilst l try and make the budget work. She has also decided to send me out on the street

 PLEASE SIR

Not sure if she means this.

Anyway, it gives us time to enjoy the area, the food, the garden and the animal life that appreciates our offerings. The little roe deer think we are planting trees and hedges for their delectation.

Awoke the other morning to see two deer nibbling the tops of our box hedging. Banged on the window.
They stopped what they were doing, looked up for a few seconds and then continued to nibble away.

If this wasn't bad enough, we had another visitor the other morning. He or it could be she, didn't take any notice either.

At one point she was swinging upside down trying to get the nuts out.
perhaps she needed them to keep her strength up.
She was chased around this wonderful old oak tree for about half an hour. He still didn't catch her.

Then guess what?  They came back for more!

This time they decided the birdseed looked rather good

Over Easter we manage to have people in for the BnB, so its great to meet new people and have the opportunity of trying out new dishes. It also gave me the justification to test out new recipes, chorizo, both dried and cooked, Cumberland sausage, yoghurts, breads and my favourite waffles.

The new machine helped. But its also induces us to eat more crispy bacon and maple syrup.

After Easter, with guests departed , we head out for a day of walking. But first we head for
Portavadie by the side of  Loch Fyne in Argyll. We get on board the ferry for the 30 minute crossing to Tarbert.

One slight problem, the forecast sun disappeared was replaced with overcast sky’s, rain, sleet and gale force winds.

So in to Tarbert for a quick coffee, fresh banana muffin and then to the fisheries cabin at the dock for two dozen oysters. Then it was back on ferry, a quick picnic before heading home.

The oysters were an alternative, compensation for the lost walk.

The champagne, smoked duck breast and chorizo salad just added to the treat.
