Christmas started really well until the mobile went!
Auntie Joyce’s carer phoned to say that her alarm had gone
off and she was going blue with carbon monoxide poisoning. They needed to
evacuate her from her rented flat immediately. For some reason Judith instead
of her brother had been given as her next of kin and they wanted her to come
and pick her up.
Slight problem, we were in France.
Joyce had suggested that she could go to Gwens. Would have
been fun, one 90 year old looking after another.
The boiler was giving off the poisonous fumes, so they had
to turn it off. Therefore no hot water and no heating.
Suggested they contact the letting agent and request
immediate resolution to the problem. Either repair of boiler or replacement,
and in the worst case scenario move her into a new flat.
Spoke to Joyce and she was happy that it was going to be repaired and not to worry.
It was left that they would get back to us if there was a
problem.
Fortunately, they didn’t get back to us, and we got back on
with our lives in France.
