June in Innellan Near Dunoon Scotland
As l mentioned in the last post we had decided to rent out two of our rooms as B&B and had great success. So far so good. Unfortunately our schedule is so hectic at present we have had to close out the booking calendar. The booking calendar is a great method of making sure people are aware of when you are free and open for business, totally controllable. Such technology. And its free, they just take a booking fee when a person books.
we have called the B&B our house name Too Wayout View, but the web site is www.Toowayoutview-accommodation.co.uk so that when we move into the other house, all being well we can let the whole house out on a weekly basis.
The open lounge looking out onto the Firth of Clyde |
The dining table with a view |
Our Blue room |
Must say we had to really pull out all the stops to finish off the house and garden so that it looked its best prior to taking in our first guests. But then again we thrive on a little stress. Only had to finish off the other seating area around the fire pit, complete the vegetable beds and paths along with bricking in some steps, making a wardrobe and bedside tables for the blue room and fitting umpteen paintings. Phoo!
Really pleased with how the wild life garden has materialised, still waiting for some of the flowers to come out, but the fennel, wild garlic and cow parsley has done very well.
Buttercups in abundance |
Ruth would be proud of me - we have such a large variety of birds visiting the Innellan bird restaurant |
Even the ferns are doing well |
Our new hedgehog |
Stream of slate heading down the hill |
The fire pit and seating is virtually finished, Judith is busy putting in rocking plants |
What a picture, never get tired of the view, its ever changing |
Alistair comes back for a days sea fishing in the boat, but the water is still really cold so activity is quite slow. In other words, fishing was poor. Just small codling. Andy got one and so did l. Alistair came runner up. But we still had a great time running up and down the Kyle of Bute.
He also turned up with a kayak on his car roof. He had found one for sale on Gumtree up in Glasgow, so he popped in on his way up to us and bought it. Nearly new and £300, with all the extras. Excellent bargain.
This was the type, wide stable and kitted out for fishing |
Is this the way to go? Sounds great, will have to give it a whirl when he next comes up, but l will need to borrow a dry suite before l venture that close to the freezing water.
As my father would say, l'm nesh. Yes l am. I like to keep warm.
The second week of June was hectic. I know most of our life sounds hectic, but this was manic. The plans were submitted to the council planners, they were immediately returned because they didnt want any shading on the drawings. They also wanted details of the fencing and where the bins were going to be stored. So the poor architect had to redraw the whole lot again.
We are still waiting for the decision. Should have it in the next few weeks. Then we have to submit working drawings for the building code department. More money.
On the 19th June, we received confirmation that the building plot was ours. It had taken a long time to get it sorted, but now it was all done and dusted.
Its amazing, thousands are drifting out of our hands quicker than l thought possible, and nothing has touched the ground as yet. Its all proffesional fees in one way or another.
