Orlando and Disney Beckons

MONDAY 19TH October

Good night’s sleep, then picked up the car and headed out. The car is so small, but adequate.

Went on the I 4 to Orlando, popped into the Chase bank and got new cards, as well as transferring the money from our deposit into a cashing account with no fees.

Then it was off to the hotel. Good sized room, manager/owner very pleasant. Good crack. Housekeeping left a lot to be desired. But once mentioned he put everything right, although they still don’t iron sheets.

But the breakfast buffet is good as long as you like the basics, waffles, pancakes, bagels, toast cereals, porridge, juice and coffee. They have two toasters, which was one more than the Marriot. And two microwaves, plus a girl who kept it all topped up and clean.
Then its get unpacked, and head out to get our self dinner and frequented with the place ready for the big adventure in Disney Land.

Tuesday 20th October

Time fly’s when you are having fun

Magic Kingdom for the day, but we are both full of colds so head out at 3pm knackered and in need of food.  But the place still had its magic, although the numbers are up and you definitely need to use your fast pass if you want to go on any rides.

Dinner cracker barrel salmon & mash, comfort food before bed.

Wednesday 21st OCTOBER

Up early for breakfast. Need to as the restaurant is so small, 9 tables seating max 30 people and the hotel sleeps over 200 people.

Then with streaming colds we head out for Epcot, Experimental Prototype community of Tomorrow

Brought memories flooding back when we strolled a round the world lagoon. It hasn't really changed over 30 years, although they now have a food and wine expo.
A fullest day and then home shopping off for some junk food. Wendy’s for burger and salad.
Then home to feel sorry for ourselves.

Thursday 22dnd October

Animal Kingdom for the day, more of Mickey's Magic. Feeling a little better today, so we enjoy the experience more. The scenery depicting the areas is amazing. The safari park a good snapshot of what it is possibly like in the wild, although with more animals.
The feeling of Asia

Everest ride heading up to the top

One of the many amphibious cars you can hire for a trip round the lagoon

Everest, the ride.

On The Safari

Tree of Life

Olive Garden, an Italian restaurant for dinner. Packed out, but the food and wine o's excellent.

Friday 23rd October

Fast day. Need to cut down on the junk food, and reduce alcohol intake.

Hollywood Studio, but its overcast and trying to rain, but we stiff have a reasonable day looking at the scenery, but nothing has really changed, no new additions that blow your mind.

In fact, most of the events are quite old hat these days. Rather Boring.

They make them big round here

Everyone buys into the Disney magic

Saturday 24th

Golden Corral buffet meats and fish plus lots of other things. Seven plates in all for $10 and that's lunch. Then its a return visit to the Magic Kingdom

As you may have gathered . Its heading towards Halloween

Stayed to see the laser display on the fairy castle and then then the firework display. Just amazing, although people make be despair, or should l say their actions. The total disregard for other people. They push and shove, then stand in front of children, blocking their view. It’s the time when you wish you had a cattle prod.

Sunday 25th October

Bought the Garmen step and activity recorder at Target and then headed out to the Magic Kingdom. Did 20,000 steps, double the average norm.

Then onto Epcot to see the fireworks. Good, but not a patch on the Magic Kingdom

Monday 26th October Judith’s birthday

Take it fairly easy today, not too much of a race. Head out to Disney Spring. Park up and stroll around the shops. Then onto the bus for Disney. Did the new magic game and went on all the rides l wanted to go on. Some twice. Thunder Mountain, my favourite, Seven Dwarfs underground train and The Pirates of the Caribbean, just to get cooled down and soaked.  On the steam boat,  before heading on the boat to the Fort Wilderness camp site and resort for the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review.

When landing it was pitch black, but the staff pointed us towards lights in the distance. Headed up tracks with miniscule amount of lighting and eventually found a bar and restaurant, which seemed bombed out. Shortly after this we found the wooden shack/theatre/hall. but no real signs to say what was going on, but the noise from within gave the game away. Found a ticket office and was told to just wait, and someone would be out to give us our table details.

And he did. A man with a barrel. We were first there, but obviously others new the score and by the time we got in line fifty people were in front of us. As it turned out, it didn’t matter. Tables had already been allocated and we ended up right in front of the stage on a table for two. Great position. The evening was fantastic, music, singing, laughter. A great mix. He six players, certainly played the audience and it was a fun evening. would go again. The food was very tasty and as per usual too much. All you can eat and drink. Judith managed to sing three jam jars full of wine.  Me driving, only had a couple of light beers.

Salad starter with cornbread and butter, ribs, fried chicken, Texas beans, corn and mashed potatoes. Followed by a dam great pudding of shortbread on strawberries with cream. Not shortbread as we know it.

The we caught the bus to take us out of the wilderness and waited for the transfer bus to Disney Spring, pick up the car an head home.
