Rain has stopped, but only in Kent

Last two days have been quite bright, yet very cold, so much so that we managed to get out for a walk. According to the BBC weather forecast, Kent is missing most of the horrendous weather that’s coming over from the states. Unfortunately the Somerset Flats are not doing as well, farms, villages and towns are still under masses of water and there is a possibility that its only going to get worse over the next week.

UK Warnings - Weather Warning

Tuesday 4th February 2014
YELLOW WARNING of WIND for EASTERN NORTHERN IRELAND, SOUTH WALES and SOUTHWEST ENGLAND
Very strong winds and heavy rain will return to southwestern parts during Tuesday afternoon and evening, eventually reaching some eastern parts of Northern Ireland later this evening.
Gusts of 60 to 70 mph are expected in many coastal areas, perhaps reaching 80 mph in a few of the most exposed spots in southwest England. Further inland, gusts of 50 to 60 mph are more likely. Strong winds may cause some disruption, particularly due to fallen trees. Large waves may again give rise to coastal flooding.
In addition, many places will see 10 to 20 mm of rain, perhaps around 30 mm over hills, which may cause additional flooding. Some particularly heavy squally bursts are expected late evening in parts of southwest England and south Wales.

 Zelary.jpg

watched a great foreign movie the other week, Zelary. a 2003 Czech/Slovak film that was nominated for an academy award in 2004.Eliška, a young nurse who leaves city-life behind when the Gestapo catch wind of the resistance. She marries Joza and comes to live with him in Želary. At first, she finds it difficult to adapt to country life, but toughens and eventually grows to love her husband and life on the mountain.
Well worth watching, although it is quite harsh in parts, but this is part of the films reality in Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia.
Unfortunately, my copy was an American film, so would not play on the DVD, so l plugged it into the computer and changed the settings to accept. Then l played it via HD lead into the TV. If this ever happens to you, beware, you can only alter the zone on your computer three times. Then it sticks to the last setting.
