More building work in between visits to Glasgow
Cold these mornings, but its such a pleasure when the sun come out.
As you can see, its only November but Judith has the Christmas tree up already. It must be Christmas, the movies have started showing every day.
Decking banister and rails. One of the first jobs that we completed once we came back form France. We were able to purchase more larch that had been ripped down and planed, which enabled us to make up and unusual design. Quite Japanese, fits well with the black and red of the ground floor deck. But more importantly, it is quite light in feel, and doesn't block out the views once you are seated on the deck.
I have been very busy recently, what with moving all my tools and machinery into the solum, cellar in English .But this meant a big tidy up first, and then a construction job to float a floor over the compacted type 1. To enable me to use it as a workshop. As with all jobs this meant that l also had to build doors into the side of the house for access. Both blend in with the side walls. So much so, that you cant actually tell that there are any doors there at all.
Once everything had been moved, with the exception of some timber and ironmongery, l set about making up a floor in the garden room. Timber joists, filled with 150mm of insulation and topped with caberflooring. Its amazing how good it is to have a proper floor to walk on, instead of the uneven base concrete that was poured over the block and beam.
Then manage to get Neil to cut and weld up two large brackets to support a structural ceiling joist. After which l hung the timber joists, filled with 100mm insulation and plaster boarded.
The pond and wild garden is looking good, and attracting masses of wildlife.
The downstairs bedroom is coming together with Judith's little touches
